Stating that a source is ‘ODBC compliant’ should not be enough of a reason to use it as a source.

  

Guidelines for what is considered a ‘source’ should be established by a steering committee.     For example, some companies have stated that Access Db’s, spreadsheets and flat files should never be considered a source since they are not a ‘mature’ source.

3.An Analytical Database (data warehouse, data mart) should be a collection of analytical data in sets of star and/or snowflake schemas.

 

4.Other source data can be Access Db’s, Excel Spreadsheets, etc.

 

Using these types of sources to do prototyping and proof of concepts is quick and easy.
